When the tribes of Reuven and Gad asked to settle outside the Land of Israel, they said:
“We will build pens for our livestock here and cities for our children.” (Numbers 32:16)
First the business. Then the family.
But when Moshe responds, he switches the order:
“Build cities for your children and pens for your sheep.” (Numbers 32:24)
Same words. Different order.
A hidden message.
Yes, we need to work. To build. To succeed.
But Moshe reminds us — don’t confuse what’s urgent with what’s most important.
The kids come first.
Our energy, our best hours, our focus — should start with the family, with our children’s future, with the soul of the next generation.
The business can wait.
The soul can’t.
