Parshat Ki Tavo
As the Jewish people stand ready to enter the Land of Israel, Moses reminds them what life there should look like.
• First Fruits (Bikkurim): Bring the first of your harvest to the Temple to thank G-d for the land and its blessings.
• Tithes (Ma’aser): Make sure to give what belongs to the Levites, the poor, and others in need – showing responsibility and care for each other.
• Blessings and Curses: A dramatic ceremony on two mountains will declare that following G-d’s way brings blessing, while turning away brings the opposite.
• The Tochacha (Admonition): A long list of blessings and warnings reminds us how much depends on our choices.
The message: Entering the land is not just about settling down – it’s about building a life of gratitude, justice, and connection to G-d. The blessings of the future depend on the path we choose.
